Why did my notes disappear?

If your notes suddenly seem to be missing, don’t worry — in most cases, they are not deleted.

This usually happens because you are viewing a different account or session than the one where the notes were originally created.

The most common reason: account mismatch

In Echo, your notes are always tied to a specific account.

Signing in with different methods creates separate accounts, even if the same email is used.

For example:
• Sign in with Apple → one account
• Sign in with Google → another account
• Sign in with Microsoft → another account

👉 Notes will only appear when you are logged into the exact same method used when they were created.

What to check

To find your notes, please check:

  1. Open Echo → Settings

  2. Confirm you are signed in

  3. Check which sign-in method is shown (Apple / Google / Microsoft)

If you may have used a different method before, try logging out and back in using that one.

Anonymous (not signed in) recordings

If you used Echo without signing in, your recordings were stored in a anonymous account.

If the app later:
• Logged you out
• Switched accounts
• Was reinstalled
• Or you changed devices

👉 Those recordings may no longer be accessible.

Unfortunately, without knowing the credentials of this anonymous session, it is not possible to log back into it or recover the recordings linked to it.

Switching devices

If you change devices (for example, get a new phone), your notes do not automatically transfer.

To access your notes on a new device, you must log into the same account (Apple / Google / Microsoft) that was used to create them

👉 Notes are only available on a new device if they are linked to an account.

If you used Echo without being signed in, your notes were stored locally on that device only.

⚠️ Important:
If you create notes while not signed in, and later log into an existing account, the app will switch to that account and those local notes will no longer be visible.

How to transfer notes from an anonymous session

If you have notes on a device and want to make sure they are not lost, follow these steps:

  1. Stay on the device where the notes currently exist

  2. Go to Echo → Settings

  3. Sign up and create a new account (Apple / Google / Microsoft)

  4. Do not log into an existing account

This will link your current notes to that new account.

Once this is done, you can:
• Log into that same account on another device
• Access your notes across devices

👉 This is the only way to preserve notes created while not signed in.

How to prevent notes to disappear in the future

To keep your notes safe:

• Always make sure you are signed in before recording
• Use the same sign-in method across all devices
• Make sure to remember your login method and credentials
